Black & White Bedding Update

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I finally got around to posting up some photos of the Black and White Duvet set I got a while back from here.  It got sold out a couple days after I posted about it, but the good news is that it's back in stock on Amazon and you can purchase it here if you like it.

I love the contrast of the clean black lines against the white.  It really helps to brighten up my bedroom since my walls are painted a deep plum color.  I added a silver sequin pillow to compliment the silver accents I have in the room - pulling from the metallic silver crown moulding and lamp shades.

All I'm missing now is a faux fur throw...I'm loving this one from West Elm and the price is not too shabby! I'm adding this one to my Christmas wish list!

Readers Request: More Black & White Hotel Style Duvets

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Hi guys,
I've gotten a couple emails from readers asking me if I knew of any other black and white "hotel style" duvet covers since they were unable to purchase the same bedding that I had ordered here before it got sold out yesterday.  I'm so happy to know that at least one of my readers was able to score a set for herself (yay Karen!) and I'm hoping that the other set left in stock yesterday went to another one of my readers out there too!  That would be awesome!  Here are a few more similar style duvet sets that I found at pretty affordable prices.  I hope you guys like them also!

This 3-piece duvet cover set pictured below is from Overstock.com and is only $50 right now.  It doesn't come with the bed skirt, but this one will probably go fast as well.  I'm loving how simple the Black lines are - very classy.
Hurry! click HERE to buy (Overstock.com tends to sell out very quickly)

This set has the same bold Black lines as the one I purchased, but also minus the bed skirt.  It's $75 for a 5-piece set from Amazon, but it's also 100% Egyptian Cotton so it's probably a bit softer to the touch.

This set below is a little different.  It sort of remides me a bit of a tuxedo, but I'm still liking the Black & White (I think it's just that 3-button pillow that's bothering me a bit), but at $50 for this 8-pc set - it's a score!
Plus, with that extra money you saved buying this set, you can replace that button pillow with this beauty...
Gold Pillow can be purchased HERE
I hope these options help.  Hopefully you'll get to score a new bed set for your "hotel"bedroom suite.  If you do, I'd love to see some pics!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Workspace Wednesday - Craft Edition

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

I'm a sucker for crafting and DIY projects and since I've converted our 3rd bedroom into Ryker's nursery I wish I had another extra room to convert into my craft space.  So, until we can start our extension I've migrated my crafting area to our dining room table, my easel onto my backyard deck, and have somehow managed to store all my things in the closet and in my vintage secretary desk. Since the weather has been really nice out, it's actually been a great treat for me to be able to paint outdoors while watching Keira play on the swing set.  However, this shortage of creative indoor work areas has got me thinking of clever home office spaces, or should I say "cloffice" spaces.

Closet offices are SO Cool!

I love how femme and cozy this space feels.  The colors work very well together and that disco ball adds a touch of glamorous fun to the room!

It's great to have a craft space where you can shut the doors after you've made big mess right before bedtime...

I definitely need to upgrade my Inspiration Board!

For the meantime, I don't mind sharing my indoor crafting space with my talented little artist

A Gorgeous Little Girls Nursery

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

I came across this AMAZINGLY decorated baby girl's nursery that made me want to decorate another nursery (for someone else that is) ;)

I am totally crushing on this Nursery Works Uptown Collection - it's beautiful, it's Black & White, and it's just super classy!  This collection was designed by Tamara Kaye-Honey who did a FABULOUS job designing this room for the Hampton's Designer Showhouse.  You can see more of her work on her here.

The frame around the mirror is a great touch, especially against this gorgeous wallpaper!
 Love the little details!

A Look Inside Lonny

Saturday, August 25, 2012

This month's issue of Lonny Mag featured an inside look at the Editor in Chief, Michelle Adams, NYC high rise.  I love the way that she decorated her bedroom. It reminds me a bit of my decorating style with the color theme and the mirrored furniture.  Her room just feels so fresh and inviting.

I've always had a thing for canopy beds - maybe one day I'll get to try this DIY project!

I need to buy this Lucite box below - it's such a great way to hide (or show off) your accessories

Workspace Wednesday - Kardashian Style

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Part of the reason why I love watching the Kardashian show is because the interiors of the homes are such great eye candy.  The designer, Jeff Andrews, did a wonderful job with the interiors.  Khloe's home office is one of my favorites.  It's chic, sophisticated, and very rich in texture.

The Residences at 400 Fifth Avenue

Monday, August 20, 2012

New York City is one of my favorite places to visit.  It's such a beautiful city and since I also loved watching Sex and the City - there was something about NYC living that was always so glamorous to me. A friend of mine just moved in to the Residences at 400 Fifth Avenue and I was just in awe of how beautiful this place is! I can't wait to visit!

...plus she lives just minutes away from this!
What more could a gal ask for?

Texas Home Eye Candy - Rue Magazine

Tuesday, August 7, 2012

RUE Magazine just released their August Texas edition and I am LOVING the home of Judy Aldridge, the author the Atlantis Home blog, which was featured in the issue.  I love how bold and glamorous her design style is. The pops of green, purple, and red really compliment the richness of her decor pieces adding a feminine touch to the rooms.

Friday, May 4, 2012

Lately, time has been going by so fast that it's nice to take a Time Out  every now and then for yourself.

Here's some beautiful reading nooks that I found on Pinterest that make me wish I could just crawl up with a book (or nook) and a cozy blanket!

Neutral & Cool Colors

I just love this room, it looks like it's in the middle of the house. I love how unexpected it is!
Pops of Red & White

and of course...

The CLASSIC Black & White

You just can't go wrong with this color combination. It's so crisp.

Have a great weekend everyone! I hope you all get to take a little Time Out for yourself this weekend!

Home Goods Haul: Keira & Ryker's Room

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Home Goods has been my all time favorite place to find treasures for homes that I've decorated, especially my own.  When people come over and ask where I bought certain pieces whether it be mirrors, dressers, frames, you name it -  80% of the time I bought it from Home Goods. It's an interior designers secret place to shop and most of the things you'll find there are one of a kind pieces that you can't find restocked again...or you might be able to find it elsewhere at possibly double, even triple the price!

Check out some of the cool pieces I snagged for Keira's new room and Ryker's nursery...and a few things for mommy. ;)

WARNING:  Home Goods can sometimes be evil...it tempts you to spontaneously buy amazing pieces that you don't necessarily need at the moment, or don't even have the exact spot for yet...so buyers beware!

For Ryker's Room:

- A black candle holder & a yellow and white candle
(My original intention was to put this in Rykers room on a white hanging shelf out of a childrens reach, but I think it's actually best to keep it on the fireplace instead since it just isn't kid friendly ;)
* This is a perfect example of that WARNING notice I listed above)
However, in my defense...you can always find the perfect spot for it, it just takes some re-arranging.

- The PERFECT ultra-soft throw blanket for my glider for Ryker's room.
(It's Black and White with the perfect tree branch motif we have for the nursery)

- A black, white, and silver pocket watch wall clock
(I thought it was great because it had a storybook feel to it, plus it isn't girly at all, and at $12.99 I just couldn't pass that up!

- A black bird and tree branch frame
(Perfect again for the tree theme)

- A White Owl Bank
(Keira fills her pig up with the change she finds on the couch, so Ryker needs to have his own bank)

For Keira's Room:

- Two Round Red Ruffle Pillows to match her hanging Red Rose pom pom's I made for her below on the right
(I'll do a DIY tutorial on it soon)

- A modern hourglass with light turquoise sand
(I thought it was a fun way to keep track of the time she had left to play before bedtime)

For Daddy & Mommy:

- A portable lap desk for your laptop with an LCD lamp
(My friend actually got burned because he fell asleep with his laptop on his lap, so at $12.99, I think it's worth buying)

- New Inspiration Board
(I love that it has a cabinet door - it's like a shadow box, but with this one you can just use pins to put up your photos or clippings since it's padded and lined with linnen)

Hope everyone's having a great weekend!!
Happy Hunting!!!
